State of the Union
At Least for VW and Hewlett Volkswagen
By John Chauvin, General Manager

As we ring in 2022 and say goodbye to 2021, we reflect on the changes that occurred in the auto industry as well as for us here at Hewlett Volkswagen.

It’s safe to say, 2021 brought more challenges and opportunities than we’ve ever witnessed as an industry. With the micro-chip shortage and supply chain issues causing havoc on the auto industry, we here at Hewlett Volkswagen embraced those challenges and made the best of it.

While we still had inventory shortages, Volkswagen continued to build vehicles. It was up to us to figure out how to get our “unfair” share of those shipments to keep our volume high and take care of our customer base. VW basically went to a turn rate and days-supply algorithm to fairly allocate inventory. Translation, if you had the least amount of inventory and the highest sell rate, you would receive more inventory at a faster pace.

How does that help you? We have the mindset that every car must go. We are making deals on every vehicle we get because, frankly, while it does improve our turn rate and shorten our days-supply, it also takes care of our customers because we can get them into the cars and SUV’s they want at a faster pace.

Of course, while all this has our management team working around the clock to keep tabs on our incoming pipeline, our inventory on the ground and our sell rate for the new car side, we haven’t forgotten about the pre-owned department.

In fact, we’ve increased our inventory on the pre-owned side, more than we’ve ever had actually. Our pre-owned inventory is so robust, we jokingly call ourselves “the pre-owned factory” because almost everyone looking for something pre-owned, drives away with their dream car.

We look for 2022 and maybe even 2023 to be similar with the challenges we’ve seen in 2021 but one thing will be drastically different for us here at Hewlett Volkswagen. Yes, you heard it here first…. We’re putting the final touches on the design of our all-new showroom and service areas. Yes, Hewlett Volkswagen will soon undergo a complete remodel that will knock your socks off. This design is so advanced with technology and EV design elements, one look when you walk in will make you sit back and just say “wow”. It will be beautiful, and we cannot wait. More details to come in my next newsletter so stay tuned.

In the meantime, new inventory is coming in and the pre-owned inventory has its best selection ever so come by and see us, the time to trade is GREAT!

Happy Motoring

They can make a significant difference in traction and stopping distances dependent on the wear and condition of your tires. more Driving on worn tires is like walking on shoes with worn or no soles. It makes for a difficult walk and can cause mishaps as well. It is not every day that we think about this, but on average people drive about 25-50 mph in city and 50-80mph on the Highway. In an emergency, if you are driving with worn tires, your stopping distance increases, especially on slippery roads. On a recent study, a vehicles stopping distance was compared based on tire tread. It took 8 car lengths more stopping distance with the worn tires measuring at 4/32nds compared to new tires at 10/32nds. Nearly 10 car lengths more with tires worn down to 2/32nds. This is important to think about as it can be pertinent in an emergency. At what measurement are tires ok? New tire tread depths can vary. They vary depending on the type of application, tread design, tread profile and measurement. This is due to types of tires such as all-season tires, passenger tires, off road tires, performance tires, etc. On average, our tires new start at 10/32nds of measurement. 10/32 - 7/32nds are considered good tires. 6/32nds - 5/32nds are considered ok and you will need to plan to have them replaced, if not now, soon. 4/32nds or below, tires should be replaced. 3/32nds is when your tire tread is worn to the wear bar indicator. Under 2/32nds are considered unsafe and need to be replaced immediately to meet legal safety standards. Why purchase tires from Volkswagen Dealership? As I mentioned above. Bold Tech and Clean Power: The 2025 Volkswagen ID.4

The 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 isn't your run-of-the-mill electric compact SUV. With value-priced models on offer, the ID.4 is perfect for families and budget-conscious buyers alike. Let's take a look at what it offers. Exploring the Versatility of the 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 Performance and Range The ID.4 has three performance options to suit varying driving needs. The standard rear-wheel drive setup with the smaller 58-kWh battery produces 201 horsepower, sports a 7.3-second 60-mph time, and has 206 miles of estimated range. This setup is perfect for those who need a reliable vehicle to get them to and from work every day. The ID.4's tight turning radius makes for easy parking in small city parking stalls and is ideal for parallel parking. Sticking with rear-wheel drive but upgrading to the 77-kWh battery delivers 282 horsepower and 291 miles of EPA-estimated range. It also makes the daily commute slightly more fun with its 4.8-second 60-mph time. If that's still not enough power, there's the all-wheel drive ID.4, which uses the bigger battery to produce 335 horsepower. Like all EVs, regenerative braking uses the energy generated from the vehicle's deceleration to efficiently recharge the battery. Styling and Comfort The ID.4's interior has a contemporary design, with ambient lighting and high-tech features. In the base model, the front seats come with standard heating functions, which is a pleasantly surprising feature for its attractive price point. The Pro S trim and higher unlocks faux-leather upholstery and 12-way power adjustable front seats that have ventilation and memory settings. These higher trims can also be fashioned with a Black Package and an auto-dimming side mirror. The ID.4 seats five passengers and has plenty of cargo space for grocery hauls, camping trips, and much more. Behind the second-row seats is 30.3 cubic feet of space, which can be expanded to 64.2 cubic feet when the 60/40-split seats are folded down. There is additional storage space under the load floor, inside the large door pockets, and in the configurable center console. Technology and Connectivity A 12-inch infotainment touchscreen comes standard, but a slightly bigger 12.9-inch display is available. For 2025, Volkswagen updated the software menus and added backlit controls for the climate system and volume to improve handling after dark. Natural voice commands can control various functions when subscribed to the Plus Speech add-on. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available as an optional feature, as are numerous USB ports for device charging. The Volkswagen ID.4 offers a spacious cabin, modern design, dependable performance, and advanced technology. The incredible versatility of this electric SUV ensures that everyone can find an ID.4 that suits them, from the most budget-minded to the luxury seekers.
